Lunch at the Queen Vic Market
Fill up on the colourful sights, smells and flavours of the Queen Victoria Market. If the weather’s good, grab some fresh fodder then head to the Carlton Gardens for a picnic under the evergreens.
Visit a laneway
It doesn’t get more ‘Melbourne’ than sipping a flat white in a bustling laneway. Our picks are Degraves Street and Centre Place for unbeatable eateries, boutique shopping and people-watching that’s second to none.
AFL at the MCG
Carn the Hawks! Watch a game of footy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and experience thousands of die-hard Melburnian footy fans in action.
Shopping at Emporium
Emporium is Melbourne shopping at its best, offering world-class designers, retailers and eateries all under the one snazzy roof. Your credit card won’t thank you for a visit, but your wardrobe will.
Run the Tan
3.8km of scenic track round Kings Domain and the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Tan is an institution for Melburnians who like to pound the pavement.

Short on time but keen to capture some of the city’s amazing street art? Head straight to Hosier Lane and get snapping.
High tea at Hopetoun Tea Rooms
Be transported back to an era of refinement and decadence with a visit to the Block Arcade’s iconic Hopetoun Tea Rooms. Book ahead for high tea for or just pop in for a cuppa and a serve of their famous pavlova.
Lunch on the State Library lawn
Grab a sandwich and a friend, then park yourself on the lawn at the State Library of Victoria. Just don’t feed the seagulls!
Eureka Skydeck 88
The Eureka Skydeck is the highest viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere, with the hands-down best views in the city. If you want to see the twinkling night skyline in all its splendour, viewings run until 9.30pm.
