No longer do you need to rely on Twitter (or chance) to find your favourite food truck – they’ve all gathered together for you at South Yarra’s Trailer Park, Melbourne’s newest foodie mecca.
When you waltz into Trailer Park, you’ll be greeted by a food-filled space and a glorious beer garden, with the added bonus of a DJ. It may not be outdoor weather right now, but if the heaters don’t warm you up, try the Curry Van’s offerings (full of warming tempered spices) or Gumbo Kitchen’s spicy shrimp po’boy (a submarine sandwich from America’s deep south).
If you feel like something a bit more familiar, there’s the raph burger (Tasmanian grass-fed beef in a brioche bun) or the ‘shroom burger from Beatbox Kitchen. And there’s fresh corn, quesadillas and tacos from Cornutopia, who also offer gluten-free choices.
Sweet tooths should check out the Crème Brulee Cart. Yes, you read that correctly – there’s a truck dedicated to various flavours of brulee, including dark chocolate peppermint and vanilla bean.
The food trucks at Trailer Park will rotate in September, making way for White Guy Cooks Thai, Chingon Taco Truck, Souvlaki Cart, German sausage van Mutter Krause, and the sweet and savoury crepe van, Rue de Crêperie.
Trailer Park is open weekends from 12pm-8pm throughout August and September at Village Melbourne (formerly the Belgian Bier Café), on the corner of St Kilda Road and Moubray Street.
