Melburnians love a good pop-up and the temporary architectural wonder that is MPavilion, is no exception.
Located in the Queen Victoria Gardens – opposite the Arts Centre – MPavilion is designed by well-known Australian architect Sean Godsell and serves as a ‘clubhouse’ where Melburnians can drop by to enjoy a free program of talks, workshops, music and installations.
Watch our interview with Jessie from the MPavilion and explore the space and highlights of the program.
Each morning at 8am, the MPavilion has an opening ceremony where the building literally opens from all sides to the elements around it. Once open, coffee is served! The friendly folks at Everyday Coffee will serve your favourite brew with pastries and tasty snacks while you savour the green view and do some wildlife spotting.
This temporary landmark has created a special meeting place in our city that offers something unique for everyone to enjoy. Catch a daily lunchtime reading, kick back for some sunset bliss with DJs every Friday night, or get the little ones involved with child-friendly events running throughout summer.
The MPavilion is part of a four year program that will see temporary pavilions created around the city each year. This one won’t be here forever, so make sure you head down and check it out before it disappears.
