Where to shop after-hours this Christmas

Shop into the night this Christmas. All the major city retailers are operating extended hours so that you can tick off your Christmas list after work. Emporium Melbourne, Melbourne Central, QV Melbourne, Melbourne’s GPO and The Strand Melbourne will be open every night until 9pm through to Friday 23 December.

With more than 1,000 stores over four city blocks and a bundle of special activations and events, finish the Christmas shopping and have some fun while you do it!

Melbourne Central

At Melbourne Central you’ll find a special pop-up from LuxBite, stocked to the brim with drool-worthy macarons and sweets that look (almost) too good to eat. There are incredible festive season decorations, made with almost 1500 white wooden doves, and you can wrap your Melbourne Central purchases in custom-designed Emily Green wrapping paper, available for a gold coin donation to STREAT.

Some of the beauties available at Funkis in The Strand

The Strand

The Strand is perhaps one of Melbourne’s most underrated shopping malls. It packs a big punch in terms of fashion and lifestyle offerings, despite its small size. Stores include Acne Studios, Cos, Desigual, Dinosaur Designs, Habbot, Mor, Nobody Denim, Onitsuka Tiger and The Bathing Box. It’s no wonder they’re giving away copies of Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Sneaker Freaker to shoppers spending more than $100 this Christmas.

Where to shop:

Desigual: Visit the sole Melbourne store to shop the brand’s fun, fresh fashion known for their bright colours and bold patterns.
Nobody Denim: Shop local with your gift-giving this Christmas by picking up well-tailored women’s denim from this Melbourne label.
Funkis: From Swedish-influenced homewares to Australia-made fashion and jewellery, their broad range means Funkis could be the store to tick off those last items on the Christmas list.

Emporium Melbourne

Expect a whimsical Christmas at Emporium Melbourne this year. They’ve partnered with Disney to create Mickey’s Magical Christmas Tree. Once you’ve spotted Mickey, shop up a storm with 200 of the best names in fashion, beauty and lifestyle under one roof. And because fashion needs fuel, rest those tired feet and satisfy a grumbling belly with a gastronomical adventure at what might be the best food court in town.

Where to shop:

Brooks Brothers: Dress your dapper love in classic fashions from this iconic American brand.
Top 3 by Design:  Stocking only the best three items in their respective categories, this store offers chic homewares, accessories and kitchenware at a range of prices.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store: Another great gift store, here you can browse jewellery, stationery, apparel, accessories and books to find that perfect present for even the fussiest folk.
