Mayweather vs McGregor: where to watch the fight

It’s billed at the biggest fight in boxing history. Sunday 27 August (AU time), boxing legend Floyd Mayweather will face-off against UFC superstar Conor McGregor in a 12-round showdown in Las Vegas.

If you’re wanting to make a day of it in the city, gather your friends and get to one of these venues to see it live and loud on the big screen:

Garden State Hotel – watch the action in the public bar or beer garden at this popular watering hole in Flinders Lane. Doors open at 10am and the Kiosk will be serving a selection of flavour-packed toasties and snacks, with DJs playing post fight.

Irish Times – Get cosy and watch the fight over a Guinness or Kilkenny beer at this Irish-style home-away-from-home. Authentic Irish and Australian pub food, including beef and Guinness pie, ribs and burgers will be on offer.

Melbourne Public – This friendly pub set in and around lovingly restored heritage cargo sheds in South Wharf is a great option for southsiders. General admission tickets are available for $15 (advance) or $20 on the door.

San Antone – With a mouth-watering menu of Texan BBQ, San Antone will be one of the tastiest places to watch the action. It’s one of eight venues that will be screening the match at Crown over a total of 42 screens. Also at Crown, The Palms will be showing the fight at an exclusive event with both a standing option and reserved seating.

European Bier Café – Watching options at the European Bier Café include the three-metre screen on level one or over a $20 Cocktail carafe on the Aer Rooftop. Food specials, including a $15 steak and $14 parma with chips and salad, are available on all levels.
