Fitzroy Gardens serves up live music, dance, food trucks and picnics over two summer weekends

Loved by Fitzroy Gardens locals for years, Sunset Series returns to one of Melbourne’s most beautiful parks for two epic weekends of live music, dance workshops, food trucks and long evenings lazing on the lawn.

Sunset Series

Fitzroy Gardens transforms for Sunset Series

Saturdays will be chock-full of live local music, while Sundays will have you on your feet for two days of seriously fun, inhibition-free dance workshops.

Here’s a taste of what’s in store for Sunset Series 2017.

Having performed at Cochella and Bluesfest, Alárìíyá – meaning ‘party people’ in Yorùbá – will share the rich musical culture of Nigeria as part of Sunset Series 2017.

One of Melbourne’s busiest DJs MzRizk has performed with the likes of Mos Def, Public Enemy, The Daptones and Jurassic 5 across festivals including Glastonbury, Soundwave and Big Day Out.

Melding an old-fashioned crooner-style with a modern funk sound, Au Dray will join Melbourne DJ MzRizk.

Expect the seven piece band, The CoreTet to expand onstage with some special guest MCs as they deliver their special musical blend of Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&B and Soul.

Relax on the lawn and listen to some of Melbourne's best local artists...

... or get up and dance.

Melbourne Salsa

Melbourne Salsa have been a serious hit at Sunset Series in the past. Their return in 2017 is set to again get the crowds jiving.

Fulton Street

With Shannen’s commanding vocals, solid rock rhythm and a dynamic horn section, the seven-piece Fulton Street combines classic elements of soul and R&B with a vibrant energy.

Sister Skeleta

A permanent fixture in the broadcasting world, Sista Selekta will dust off her record collection and throw down soul, hip hop and global tunes.

Fusing rock with traditional Aboriginal sounds, Neil Morris will get the Sunset Series crowd moving.

Silver Linings

Fronted by long-time collaborators Françoise d’Argent and Benny Badge, the signature soul-boogie sounds of Silver Linings will strike the perfect note for our second Saturday session.

Pack a picnic for this year's Sunset Series...

Food truck

... or let the food trucks tempt you.

Then round up the family or friends, pack a picnic and get set for the perfect summer’s night. Those less prepared on the picnic-front, can also refuel with mouth-watering food from Coffee on Q, Mr Burger, O Tuga Tastes of Portugal, Yo India or Sweet Forbidden Journey.

Sunset Series runs over two weekends:
5pm to 9pm, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 January
