Before the kids get a case of the ‘I’m bored’s’ this summer, head to the city waterfront for family fun that will keep them cool and their holiday spirits high.
And for you hard-working kid wranglers, take a few deep breaths, we’ve got your coffee needs covered!
All aboard the Polly Woodside for some seafaring hijinks at South Wharf. This gorgeous heritage ship offers pirate Sundays, tours, and regular events the kids will love.
Coffee fix: Head to The Boatbuilders Yard for boiled eggs with soldiers and seriously good coffee.
Melbourne Aquarium is the city’s favourite underwater wonderland. Check out the Croc Lair if you dare or march your happy feet along to the Penguin Playground.
Coffee fix: It’s a short stroll to the 5 & Dime Bagel Cafe for dreamy bagels and Promised Land coffee.
Catch a tram to the bottom of Collins Street for the perfect picnic and play destination at Docklands Park. Enjoy free barbecue facilities, a playground, public art and, of course, the harbour breeze.
Coffee fix: The Beanstalk Cafe offers fresh, yummy food for a family pit stop.
Library at the Dock
Library at the Dock knows how to keep the young’uns happy. For the older kids there’s table tennis and wifi, and for the younger, the children’s library and playground next door should keep them happy.
Coffee fix: Just head downstairs to the onsite cafe!
Want the kids to unleash their artistic side somewhere other than the walls at home? Pop down to ArtPlay at Birrarung Marr for creative workshops and awesome events all-year round.
Coffee fix: You can’t go past Pony Cafe next door for sumptuous coffee and wholesome grub.
