The experts tell us their top Christmas Day tips

Christmas Day can crash pretty quickly once the presents have been opened, and the lounge room has been appropriately covered in wrapping paper. To avoid Christmas Day boredom, we’ve asked people at some of Melbourne’s favourite hotspots for their top Christmas Day tips.

Pene Harricks, Manager of Three Thousand Thieves Kiosk at MPavilion: “Surround yourself with the best quality food, wine, and amazing company, and try to keep things simple so you can enjoy the day rather than spending it in the kitchen.

“Start Christmas day with a really good coffee – a flat white is my choice – made from good quality beans. I’m loving the blend from Brunswick roastery Wide Open Road which we are serving at the MPavilion kiosk at the moment.”

O’Brien Group Arena

Amy Oates, Marketing and Membership Manager at O’Brien Group Arena: “I enjoy getting outside with the family after Christmas lunch – backyard cricket, bocce or walking the dog. It’s a good excuse for a bit of exercise too.”

Library at the Dock

Kimberley Pierzchalski, Community Animator at Library at the Dock: “After lunch, why not go for an afternoon walk around Docklands and soak up some of our urban green spaces? You can stroll through the new Sir Ron Barassi Park and walk along New Quay promenade.

“View art installations along the Harbour Esplanade and Victoria Green to Yarra’s Edge crossing bridge.  Cruise the idyllic cul-de-sac viewing the moored boats along the way, or walk all the way to Point Park and onto the intimate Harmony Garden where you can laze under the leafy trees or play the interactive musical instruments.”
