Revel in a world of fun this Cultural Diversity Week

Cultural Diversity Week, from Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 March, provides a unique opportunity to celebrate what Melbourne is all about – diverse, entertaining, original and inclusive. Not that we need a reason to recognise the vibrant cultural mix that makes our city so great!
A Taste of Kensington on Thursday 17 March demonstrates what Cultural Diversity Week is all about. The community is invited to a free lunch featuring a whole range of cuisines prepared by social enterprise STREAT.
A highlight every year is the Community Cultural Fair at Drill Hall, behind the Multicultural Hub right next to Queen Victoria Market. Check it out on Saturday 19 March for cultural performances including Bollywood dance, Brazilian drumming, henna painting, storytelling, stalls, workshops and much more packed into this stunning art deco hall.

Also, don’t miss a welcome and celebration for Melbourne’s students taking over City Square on Saturday. The Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome is a free event produced by young people, with festivities including a fashion show by local designers, live music, magic acts and reptiles.
Launching on Saturday and running until the end of April is the Elephant in the Dark exhibition at Library at The Dock. Proudly presented by Melbourne Artists for Asylum Seekers, visit the free multi-medium exhibition and participate in art stamp workshops, creating your own cultural story through art.

Back for its ninth year and a gigantic day of family fun, the Kensington CommUNITY Festival on Sunday 20 March features music and food from all over the globe, market stalls and kids activities. Sports fans rejoice as the festival also includes the Unity Cup, supported by the AFL (with some footy stars in attendance!).
A must-see and the cherry to top of Cultural Diversity Week is Victoria’s Multicultural Festival at Federation Square on Sunday afternoon. There will be more than 100 live music and dance performances across four stages, free kids activities, plus an arts and craft market and delicious international cuisine the whole family will love.
