Behind the scenes with the MTC

Melbourne is famous for its vibrant performing arts scene, with art-makers and venues across the city bringing the magic of theatre alive almost every night of the year.

Among the city’s well-loved theatres and production houses – including Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne Recital Centre, Australia Ballet and the Arts Centre – is the Melbourne Theatre Company.
Founded in 1953, the MTC (as it’s affectionately known), is Australia’s oldest professional theatre company. Producing up to 12 plays in a season, the tireless MTC team also runs educational programs to inspire Melbourne youngsters to tread the boards in years to come.
Join us for a peek behind the velvet curtains with Sam Strong, MTC’s Associate Artistic Director , and discover what makes the Melbourne Theatre Company tick.
