16 School Holiday Activities

Whether your children like craft, sports, music, reading, writing, making a mess, exploring, learning new things, or all of the above, we’ve got you covered these school holidays.

  1. Pirates, plank walking, knife juggling and hijinks are just part of the fun at this critically acclaimed show Arr we there yet?
  2. Despite the name Potty Mouth, there is no bad language in this Fringe Festival show for kids, however you can expect bodily function discussions, physical comedy and lots of laughs.
  3. Do you know a Teddy that needs a little health advice? Then get to the Melbourne Zoo stat so Teddy can be seen at their special Teddy Vet Check.

  4. Jurassic World: The Exhibition pairs the science of dinosaurs with the fun world of the blockbuster film.
  5. Just keep swimming; just keep swimming – right into the Melbourne Aquarium to discover their all new Finding Dory and Friends activity.
  6. Reduce, reuse and recycle takes on new meaning at this Trash Puppets workshop.
  7. Big Cats, bigger bears, minecraft, coding and video games are just some of the fun kids’ activities at ACMI.
  8. Make your own Circus Equipment and learn how to use it at these free workshops at City Library, Library at the Dock and Kathleen Syme Library.
  9. Giant bobbing sculpture artist Narinda Cook will lead workshops with plasticine to encourage the use of intuition and imagination at ArtPlay.

  10. The kids can work alongside exhibiting artists in free workshops whilst experiencing the art at the Painting. More Painting exhibition, currently showing at ACCA.
  11. Slimefest is a music festival for kids and their parents that includes a healthy dose of slime and features Omi, Havana Brown, rides, food and more.
  12. Introduce the kids to a skate park with assistance from the experts at Riverslide’s Family Fun Day. Kids can also enjoy free Green Light, Eat Right lunchboxes filled with a range of healthy, traffic-light-coded treats prepared in consultation with City of Melbourne’s in-house nutritionists.

  13. The kids can meet Olympic athletes, hear from author of popular Footy Kids Books series, Lorraine Wilson, or test their reaction times against elite athletes at the National Sports Museum.
  14. For a smattering of history, with a side of education about plant properties visit Cooks’ Cottage for Round and Round the Garden.
  15. It may be spring, but O’Brien Group Arena will keep you cool, with free ice skating lessons daily, roving performers, prizes and more.
